Jim Carrey was born in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada in 1962, Carrey found his calling at an early age, performing in front of classmates in elementary school -- and making them laugh.

At age 15 he began performing at Yuk Yuk's, a famous Toronto comedy club, and continued performing in clubs all over Canada until age 19, when he packed his bags and moved to Los Angeles.

In Los Angeles he soon became a regular performer at the famed Comedy Store.

It was his joining the ensemble of 'In Living Color' in 1990 that gave him the opportunity to truly flaunt his talent.

His big break came after Rodney Dangerfield signed him on for a season and an appearance on David Letterman's Late Night show. Shortly afterwards, NBC offered him a role in the series The Duck Factory. A short lived series that was cancelled after thirteen episodes.

Jim Carrey teamed up with the Farrelly brothers and Renee Zellweger for the comedy 'Me, Myself and Irene', during which Jim and Renee became romantically involved, and dated for a year and a half, before they separated.

He has created some of the most popular and entertaining characters in modern film history, and his films Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, The Mask, based on the Dark Horse comic book series of the same name, Dumb and Dumber and Ace Ventura
