Mandy Moore was born April 10, 1984, in Nashua, New Hampshire. At the age of two months she moved to Orlando, Florida.
She used that experience as a springboard for her acting career, appearing as "Melinda Lopez" first in the short lived Second Chances series,
then Hotel Malibu. In 1995 she jumped onto the big screen in her first major role, opposite Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson in Money Train.
Mandy Moore was inspired to pursue a career as a vocal artist after attending a stage performance of Oklahoma! and witnessing the entrancing effect the lead performer had on the audience.
Her route to fame started when she was named the "National Anthem Girl" because she sang The Star-Spangled Banner for all major sports teams and for Chris Evert's Pro-Celebrity Tennis Tournament.
During the recording of a theme song for a TV pilot, she received an offer to complete a full demo by a producer who took notice of here.
A talent scout came in when she was recording and sent an unfurnished demo to David McPherson, Senior Vice President of Urban A&R for Epic Records/550.
McPherson liked what he heard and immediately flew down to hear the young star sing.
The young songstress recorded her first album at 14, with film roles following close behind. Gaining confidence in front of the camera with her self-titled MTV show in addition to appearances on The Andy Dick
Mandy rose to celebrity status after touring with N-Sync and the Backstreet Boys. Her debut single, 'Candy', sold half a million copies
